POSITION
We are seeking a compassionate caregiver (Direct Support Provider/DSP) in Southwest Loveland, CO 80537 to provide direct support to a 27-year old male client with Autism, Developmental Disabilities, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, epilepsy, and food allergies. Client has no physical disabilities, he is cooperative, happy, and fun to be with. Your main responsibilities will include taking the client on community outings (Supported Community Connections), playing with client indoors during inclement weather, supervision (particularly with ensuring the client does not eat food that was not prepared for him due to allergies), and ensuring the client's safety and well-being. Additionally, you may be required to administer emergency medication, as the client has occasional seizures.


POSITION PURPOSE

We aim to support the development of independent living skills and encourage choice while assisting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in leading productive and meaningful lives. Our services and support are offered either in the homes of individuals with IDD or in their chosen community settings. These services aim to facilitate the accomplishment of goals set by the individual receiving support. The services provided are determined by the case management agency responsible for individuals with IDD.


KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Supported Community Connections - take client out on community outings such as go: to the park, bowling, to play mini-golf, to the greenhouse, horse-back riding, or swimming - just to name a few.
  • Entertain and play with client - for example: play basketball, air hockey, cornhole, sensory activities, or simple board games like Candyland, Connect-4, Trouble, Chinese Checkers.
  • Ensure client does not eat anything not specifically prepared for him, as they have food allergies.
  • Monitor for seizures, and administer seizure medication as needed.

Job requirements

REQUIREMENTS & STRENGTHS

  • Reliable transportation, valid/active drivers license and current insurance
  • QMAP certified (preferred, not required as we will train)
  • CPR certification (preferred, not required as we will train)
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Flexible and dependable
  • Enjoy working with developmentally disabled individuals to improve their quality of life
  • Can quickly manage stressful situations responsibly and effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills and passionate about helping those in need
  • Experience in home healthcare, child care, medical field, adult care, or ABAT or RBT (preferred but not required)


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires walking or standing a significant amount of the time during shift
  • Capability to assist client with mobility or physical assistance
  • Visual and auditory acuity to assess clients needs and respond promptly.
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, grasping, lifting, reaching, pushing, twisting at waist


JOB TYPE: Part-time

SCHEDULE: Fridays 9:00am-5:00pm (*day of the week and start/end time is negotiable*)
